Ana Raquel Sousa (1995) was born in Lisbon. She started her musical studies at the age of 9, learning how to play the violin at Academia de Música e Dança do Fundão (AMDF).
In 2014 she began her singing studies with professor Luís Rodrigues (Baritone) and in 2015 she was accepted to Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML), where she currently attends the 3rd and last year of the bachelor’s degree in lyrical singing with professor and soprano Sílvia Mateus. While studying at ESML, she participated in several projects and premiered pieces of young Portuguese composers, performing in places such as Panteão Nacional, Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB), Teatro S.Luiz, among others. She was also a member of the Operas "Don Giovanni" and "Cosi Fan Tutte", by W. A. Mozart, at Teatro S. Luiz and Teatro da Trindade.
As a soloist she sang with the AMDF Classical Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestra and Wind Orchestra of ESML and the Classical Orchestra of the Metropolitana of Lisbon, performing works of Fauré, Saint-Saëns, Mendelssohn and Schumann. At the end of the year 2016, Ana started singing in the Chamber Choir of ESML. She participated in many concerts, including the 2017 Summer Choir Festival at CCB. In the summer of 2017, she became a part of ECCE Ensemble, directed by Conductor Paulo Lourenço. The ensemble joined two international choral festivals in China: China (Qiandongnan) International Folk Song Choral in Kaily City and 14th China Inner Mongolia Grassland Culture Festival and also in the International Federation for Choral Music "Sound From the Silk Road" Choral Festival in Hohhot City, both organized by the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM).
Currently, in addition to the ESML Chamber Choir and ECCE Ensemble, Ana is a soprano at Caulouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
