M. Bernardo Beirão (1997), born in Lisbon (Portugal), started his musical studies at the age of 6 in Colégio do Sagrado Coração de Maria where he studied piano and musical education. At the age of 11, he was admitted to the piano course at Escola Artística de Música do Conservatório Nacional (EAMCN) under the guidance of Joaquim Fernandes. While being a student at EAMCN, Bernardo was a member of Musaico, a choir conducted by Tiago Marques. With Musaico, he participated in choral competions like Festival Coral de Verão, FICA and International Chorwettberb (Germany), performed the opera “Monster in the Maze” by Jonathan Dove and recorded the award winning CD “Magnificat em Talha Dourada” by Eurico Carrapatoso.
In 2016, Bernardo started to study composition at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML) where he has been studying with composers João Madureira, Sérgio Azevedo, Carlos Caires, José Luís Ferreira, Roberto Pérez and Carlos Marecos. At ESML, he is a member of the chamber choir conducted by Paulo Lourenço.
Currently, he is also a member of the barbershop quartet “Contratempo” and the ensemble vocal “Octantis”.
