Maria joão abreu



Maria João Abreu (1997), born in Leiria (Portugal), started her musical studies at SAMP (Sociedade Artística e Musical dos Pousos) in organ performance, with Rute Martins. In 2015, she finished the Conservatory with a final grade of 17.
In the same year, she enrolled in the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML), where she studies with João Vaz and António Esteireiro. 

When studying at SAMP, she started to sing in the Youth Choir. In 2016, she became a member of ESML Chamber and Symphonic Choirs, conducted by Paulo Lourenço. With those she participated in several concerts and in the choral festival “Festival Coros de Verão”, that takes place in Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon. 

In the summer of 2017, she participated in the festival “Peças Frescas”, Azores Edition, as a part of the choir which premiered “Sentimento Desconhecido”, composed by João Fonseca e Costa and conducted by João Barros

Currently, she is still a member of the Chamber and Symphonic Choirs of ESML and Nova Era Ensemble .
