Maria Ana Gonçalo was born in Ponta Delgada in 1999. At the age of 6, she began her musical studies at the Conservatório Regional de Ponta Delgada in organ class with Isabel Albergaria, Cristiana Spadaro and André Ferreira. During the course, she participated in several masterclasses of organ performance with João Vaz, Hans-Ola Ericsson, José Luis Gonzállez Uriol and Lionel Rogg. She attended the X, XI and XII International Early Music Course ESMAE / ESML in Mafra. Maria also joined masterclasses of recorder performance with Carla Abreu, António Carrilho and Pedro Sousa e Silva and of harpsichord with Ana Mafalda Castro. She also worked with Jorge Alves and Javier Castro.

Maria has been singing in various choirs, such as Coro dos Pequenos Cantores da Igreja de São José, Coro de Câmara do CRPD, directed by prof. Cármen Subica and Coro Johann Sebastian Bach, with Cristiana Spadaro. Since 2015, she has been participating in the project Peças Frescas – Edição Açores. She also collaborated, as a soloist, with Banda Harmonia Mosteirense and with Banda Militar dos Açores.

In 2017, she joined simultaneously courses of Choral Conducting and Music Education at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML) and Chemical Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). Currently, she continues studies of Engineering.
