Mónica Beltrão dos Santos (1998), born in Lisbon (Portugal), started her musical studies at the age of 15 at Escola Artística de Música do Conservatório Nacional (EAMCN), studying lyrical singing with Rute Dutra. While she was a student at EAMCN, she developed her ensemble singing and choral skills with Helena Raposo (chamber music) and Tiago Marques by joining his choir Musaico. With Musaico she participated in several competitions such as Festival Coral de Verão (Lisbon), FICA (Aveiro), International Chorwettberb (Miltenberg) and had the chance to record the piece “Magnificat em Talha Dourada” by Eurico Carrapatoso, winner of a SPA prize. As a soloist, she worked in a project with Os Músicos do Tejo, did the opera “Dido and Aeneas” as the first witch in AEMCN and participated in premiered pieces of young Portuguese composers.

In 2017, Mónica was accepted to Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, where she currently studies both lyrical singing with Luís Madureira and Choral Conducting/Music Education. Besides Nova Era Vocal Ensemble, she is also a member of Octantis and Contratempo.
