Pedro Latas was born in 1998, in the city of Évora, Portugal. His contact with music started at 8 years of age when he began to learn the basics of music theory with the goal of accompanying masses, by
playing organ. In 2008, he started studying at the Conservatório Regional de Évora - Eborae Musica where he spent 6 years learning Classical Guitar with José Farinha. After these years he decided to change from Classical Guitar to Composition (High School level), having studied with João Francisco Nascimento for 2 years. At the same time, amongst other classes, he was having choir classes for 8 years with Sandra Medeiros.
In 2016, at the age of 18, he started studying Composition at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, having completed High School Composition in the same year. He has studied Composition with João Madureira and is currently studying with Carlos Caires.
Amongst other activities Pedro also focuses his attention on choir singing, having twice participated in Vocalizze (2014 and 2015), a project created by Paulo Lourenço for young singers, being a part of the Coro de Câmara da ESML, Coro Ricercare (notable for premiering pieces by living Portuguese composers), which is conducted by Pedro Teixeira, and having been part of the Coro de Estágio Gulbenkian.
