Nova Era is a vocal ensemble that brings together 24 young professional singers. The ensemble's main purpose is to present and promote contemporary choral music, both Portuguese and international. The ensemble is conducted by João Barros.

Every program includes premieres of various contemporary composers. This way, Nova Era presents a new direction for composition in Portugal, encouraging the creation of choral pieces through the direct cooperation between composer, conductor and the ensemble.

Simultaneously, Nova Era introduces the best contemporary pieces of the last decades from all over the world. During concerts, every piece is presented and contextualized by different members of the ensemble. That provides the audience all the necessary knowledge needed to fully experience the performance.
